Jennifer Worth MSW, LCSW, LSCSW has a Bachelor of Arts, Psychology (1999) from Carleton University, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, and a Master of Social Work (2005) from Newman University in Wichita, Kansas. Jennifer is a licensed clinical social worker in Missouri and a licensed specialist clinical social worker in Kansas. She is also an EMDRIA Certified therapist.
Her practice focuses on depression, anxiety, trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder, and dissociation. The primary interventions she uses are cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) techniques, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), and Bowen family systems theory. Jennifer believes in the mind-body connection and enjoys using this approach with clients. She trusts that each person enters into treatment with coping and interpersonal skills. Jennifer works with clients to enhance their current skill set and provide additional skills for improved functioning in the future.
Jennifer began her work in the mental health field in 1999 as a children’s case manager at Comcare – family and children community services in Wichita, Kansas. Jennifer worked with children identified as severely emotionally disturbed (SED) and their families. Her duties included providing collaborative services for children in the community, school, and home environments. While at Comcare, Jennifer helped create a grant-funded program, Comcare – 275 project, which directly connected mental health services to children who were currently involved in services with the Kansas Department of Children and Families. In addition, she supervised children’s mental health case managers in the Comcare – campus connections program in schools within the Wichita Public Schools. Jennifer was a state case manager trainer for WSU/TAG/SRS in Kansas.
After graduating with her master of social work degree in 2005, Jennifer worked at family consultation service in Wichita, Kansas. She provided in-home family therapy to children identified as SED in an effort to keep children in the home instead of in residential hospital placement. She moved to Comcare – family and children community services where she worked as an outpatient mental health therapist for children and their families.
In 2007, Jennifer accepted a position at Wyandot Center for community behavioral health care in Kansas City, Kansas, where she provided mental health therapy to children, families, couples, and adults.
In 2009, Jennifer began working in Missouri at Truman Medical Center. While at Truman Medical Center, she worked for the adult behavioral health – crisis program in the emergency department and the behavioral health emergency department. Jennifer’s duties included assessing clients for psychiatric hospitalization as well as providing crisis interventions and outpatient resources. She also worked for the Truman Medical Center – assessment, intake, and medication services (AIMS) department where she provided individual and couples therapy to adults.
Jennifer moved to private practice in 2015 where she saw clients age 18 years and older in Liberty, Missouri and Raytown, Missouri. In addition, she provided tele-therapy to adult clients in Missouri for Abilto, a tele-behavioral health program.
In 2016 Jennifer moved her private practice into Foundational Concepts, specialty physical therapy clinic which specializes in pelvic dysfunction. Jennifer works closely with the physical therapists to address mental health during treatment of physical health.
Jennifer accepts referrals from the community at-large, as well as treating Foundational Concepts patients. Note: Jennifer is not currently accepting new patients until Jan 2020.
