Allison Gilson, Ph.D., LP is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with a Bachelor of Psychology (2006) and a Doctorate of Clinical Psychology (2012) from Central Michigan University. Dr. Gilson is licensed to practice in Missouri, Kansas, Florida, and Michigan.
Dr. Gilson specializes in working with individuals who have experienced traumatic life events, particularly those who have experienced multiple traumas over their lifetime. This includes helping clients with Depression, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Insomnia, Substance Use, and Dissociation.
Dr. Gilson's style of therapy has been described by others as calming, educational, and direct. Dr. Gilson thinks it is important to learn about why and how your symptoms come to be, as it can give a valuable sense of understanding and control. Her goal is to focus on the goals that are important to you and use a variety of evidence-based techniques that are adapted to your specific needs.
Dr. Gilson has been extensively trained in Evidence-Based Hypnosis through the American Society for Clinical Hypnosis, completing more than 100 hours of education. As part of her work as a therapist, Dr. Gilson has helped many clients work through chronic health concerns, stop smoking, and work through challenging traumatic events. She believes strongly in our capacity to use our unconscious mind to solve problems and better understand ourselves. In partnership with Worth It Therapy Services, Dr. Gilson is teaching a seven-session class designed to introduce you to Gut-Directed Hypnosis (GDH). GDH is a highly-effective evidence-based treatment of the symptoms of Irritable Bowel Disease (IBD) and Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). For more information, visit the IBS Group tab.
